Reminder: New Raid Rules & Times

Just a reminder to all our raiders: We have a few new Rules & Regulations you need to check out before tomorrow. After you’ve read them, go to the Raid Announcements Discord channel for further instructions. Finally, make sure you’ve watch all the assigned Raider Homework videos before Saturday.

On account of the holiday weekend, we might not have a full raid for either Saturday (progression) or Sunday (old raids), but we will have alternate activities planned if that’s the case.

Sunday Funday Raffle Winner

As encouragement to get people involved, Orektarg was nice enough to sponsor a raffle for all participants in the classic raid run-through the other night. The prize? Choice of Battle.net store pet! Zuldat was the lucky winner, and he chose Lil’ Ragnaros – a solid (and appropriate!) choice.

Want in on the fun? Join us Sundays at 6:30pm EST!

(Haha, Uro! I got to announce THIS raffle win!)

Tanking in a Half Shell:
Turtle Power

We had some…slight…difficulties finishing Aggramar due to our tanks having a mixup (despite otherwise performing perfectly for their first time together, might I add!). After the tanks went down in quick succession (including a battle-res that served to do little more than waste a GCD), Aggramar ripped through the raid until he found a turtle whose shell he just couldn’t quite crack. You could even say we were shell-shocked by the result 😉

Old Raids with Orek: Classic!

Yesterday the guild had its’ inaugural Sunday Fun Night, where we’ll go for achievements and transmogs as a Guild group!

The night took us on a whirlwind tour of the Classic Raids: Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ruins Ahn’Qiraj, and  Temple of Ahn’Qiraj. While some of the most desired pieces of transmog gear unfortunately didn’t drop, we found ourselves with a plethora of Red Battle Tanks – more than enough for everyone who still needed one! In addition, several people were able to check a few rare Battle Pets off their bucket list.

As a result of the runs, though, we successfully completed the Classic Raid achievement!

Following the four Classic raids, we moved on to helping one of our newer Guild Members, Zuldat, experience some of the Cataclysm content he missed while taking a break from the game. Having not played since WotLK, he was taken aback to see the damage that had been done to Mount Hyjal in his absence. Prompted by our tales of Ragnaros’ sins, he vowed to bring down the rogue Elemental Lord, plunging into the Firelands with his guild behind him.

When we had some issues with Only The Penitent during our striving for the achievements, we took a quick break and redirected our focus onto Al’Akir in the Throne of the Four Winds, bringing him down before he could even respond to us.

Returning to the Firelands after that, we resolved ourselves to push on, and successfully brought down Ragnaros for the second time that evening. All in all, it was a great experience for everyone involved, and if it is any indication of what Sunday nights will be for the Guild, you should do your best to come experience it with us!

Here’s a complete list of achievements that were completed last night, between members and the guild:

Looking for add-ons, macros, and more!

Do you guys have favorite add-ons, useful macros, or must-have sites that you use on a daily basis? Something atypical (everyone has DBM!) that you think can help your fellow guildies out? I’m compiling that kind of info on our Member Portal page, and could use your help! They can be class-specific, boss-specific, or even general or silly! Submit Feedback here, or message Quetzie on Discord. You’ll be credited for your additions on the site, too 🙂

Ganelon's twice as lucky as us!

Ganelon got not one, but TWO mounts to drop today!

Ganelon has this to say about his Ashes of Al’ar:

“Remember: ashes of alar drops for KT, not alar…cuz I wasted over a year of runs just killing alar”

Boy we feel sorry for you…haha. He also got the Pond Nettle:

Ganelon has this to say about his second lucky drop:

“I <3 JELLY FISHING”

Interested in finding your own? Ashes of Al’ar drops from Kael’tharas in The Eye, while Pond Nettle is fished up from fel water on Argus.

Welcome to
Ministry of Defense.net!

Hey all!

It’s been a good few weeks, but we’re ready to reveal the brand new MinistryofDefense.net…so bookmark us, save us, set as as your homepage!

You can poke around the site and familiarize yourself with the content we offer, but here’s a brief rundown –

The Raiding page lists information on raid times, recruitment, “homework” for raiders, kill screenshots, etc.
The Member Content page is all about YOU! Submit fanart, screenshots, brags, and more! We’ll add it to the feed. Really impressive shares might even make it to the homepage 🙂
Social Corner is mostly all about our discord – the bots and where to find us. There’s also a feedback form if you have comments, questions, or concerns about anything we do!
Finally, the Member Portal contains information both to help you (links to class-oriented discords, weekly events, and links to useful sites), as well as information to help out the Guild (lists of what the guild bank needs for raids & mythic runs).

At the bottom of each post, you can also follow links to view posts only in certain categories – raffles, raiding homework, etc. Or, if you’re looking to hear more from a specific author, you can click their name at the top of each post, and you’ll see posts by that author.

Image links will pop up in a fancy lightbox for your convenience, so you can view images without having to leave the site!

When we link to Wowhead, you can hover over the links to items, spells, achievements, and more to see hover-tooltips, just as if you were on the real site! For example: Antorus, the Burning Throne Guild Run and Vial of the Sands.

Oh yeah – and if you find anything on the site that’s broken, feel free to submit a bug report.

I’ve worked hard at the direction of Urostek and the other slavedrivers officers to make sure this site is the best it can be, so remember to send us feedback if you have any thoughts or opinions!

Cheers,
Quetzie
